CEG provided the detailed design and sequence of construction for a complete renovation of an existing 20,000 square foot operating data center. Approximately 750 operating equipment racks were replaced with new racks designed for High Heat Producing Equipment (HHPE). The total project scope was sequenced into six tightly controlled transition sequences, allowing full data center operation during construction. Project scope elements included:
- UPS System upgrade to provide additional conditioned AC power for new equipment
- PDU installation/replacement
- Electrical distribution architecture for new equipment racks
- Mechanical system upgrades to provide additional capacity for high power density equipment
- Structural design and detailed anchorage requirements for new rack and equipment
- Fire suppression modifications to accommodate new equipment layout
